Kuzbassrazrezugol-Vzryvprom started to apply preventive dust suppression agent developed by KRU-Vzryvprom at all coal branches of Kuzbassrazrezugol. A new agent for treatment of haulage roads was successfully tested at the Bachatsky open-pit mine last year. The results obtained showed that the agent was 1.5 times more effective than traditional water treatment and the duration of action was almost three times longer.
The preventive agent is colorless, odorless, and safe for the environment and humans. The composition includes aqueous solutions of calcium, magnesium and sodium chloride salts with the addition of natural polymers and surfactants. A properly selected concentration of components binds dust particles tightly, preventing them from going airborne during the movement of heavy mining equipment for a long time.
In order to promptly supply coal mines with the dust suppression agent, KRU-Vzryvprom produces about 200 tons of the product daily and delivers it to mining companies throughout the Kemerovo region.

“To reduce dusting, haulage roads of coal mining companies are traditionally treated with water. But in dry and hot weather it evaporates quickly, and the effect of such treatment lasts only up to 2–3 hours. When using the preventive agent, this time increases up to eight hours. Thus, we both reduce the frequency of watering haulage roads and water consumption, and minimize the environmental impact and make working conditions more comfortable and safer,” says Zakhar Sapurin, Deputy CEO for Ecology, Industrial Safety and Land Use at Kuzbassrazrezugol Coal Company.
